| The Contra Costa County Public Works Department is
seeking qualified individuals to establish an eligible list for Airport
Operations Technician. These positions will be assigned to the Buchanan
Field and Byron Airports. The incumbent will render necessary assistance
and services to airport users, inspect, repair, and maintain airport
facilities and equipment, communicate with pilots, air traffic
controllers, and fixed base operators. Additionally, these positions
respond to aircraft and airport related emergencies. The Airport Operations Technician is the entry level classification. Promotional opportunities are available to the higher level classifications of Airport Operation Specialist ($3,889 - $4,728) when the incumbent of this entry level position successfully meets the performance standards of the classification and may promote to Lead Airport Operations Specialist ($4071 - $4948/mo) by examination. Airport facilities operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and Airport Operations Technicians are expected to be available to work any shift assignment as needed. A shift differential of 5% over the monthly salary will be paid for shifts that qualify. Training will be provided. | ||

| License Required: Possession of a valid California
Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Education: Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency, or a high school proficiency certificate. Special Requirement: Employees in this class are subject to drug and alcohol testing under provisions of the County’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. | ||

2. Written Examination: A written exam will be administered to evaluate candidates in job-related areas such as the ability to make simple arithmetic calculations, ability to read and understand simple records and reports, and the ability to follow written instructions. Candidates must receive a minimum score of 70 to be invited to the next examination step. (Weighted 40%) 3. Oral Examination: The examination will consist of an oral interview conducted by a Qualifications Appraisal Board in Martinez, California. The Board will evaluate the job-related qualifications of each candidate. Candidates must receive an overall score of at least 70 from a majority of the Board to be ranked on the employment list.
