AIRPORT OPERATIONS AIDE - PHOENIX SKY  HARBOR INT'L AIRPORT (AZ)

RECRUITMENT DATES February 27, 2006 - March 3, 2006. 

SALARY $12.73 - $15.00 hourly / $26,478 - $31,200 annualized.


EXPERIENCE - Education and experience which provides the ability to learn
and utilize public relations techniques as well as to complete a training
course in airport security and safety methods, practices, and procedures. At
least two years previous experience with face-to-face customer service is
highly preferred. Other combinations of experience and education that meet
the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

DUTIES - Performs a variety of field and clerical tasks associated with
customer service and passenger assistance, and airport safety and security
at Sky Harbor International Airport. Typical types of duties may include
vehicle/facility inspections and enforcement of city codes and Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration
(TSA) mandates. All positions have extensive contact with the public and are
frequently involved in customer service and conflict resolution. Vacancies
are anticipated over the life of this eligible (hiring) list.

ALSO REQUIRED - Some positions in this classification require the use of
personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically
capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess an appropriate valid
Arizona driver's license, possess personal insurance coverage, and have an
acceptable driving record. All positions in the Aviation Department require
individuals to pass a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background check
prior to hire. Working irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays, and
evenings may be required. Moving objects weighing up to 20 pounds may be
required. Also requires the ability to work effectively with the public in
stressful situations and to work in environmental extremes such as heat,
noise, air pollution, dust, rain, etc.

RESIDENCE - Maricopa County residency is required within 24 months after the
date of hire and must be maintained.

EVALUATION - Based on written exam. The written exam includes questions on
spelling, vocabulary, reading comprehension, report writing,
judgment/reasoning, customer service, and procedures.
