ASSISTANT AVIATION DIRECTOR
Sky Harbor Int'l Airport (AZ)
RECRUITMENT DATES October 31, 2005 - until a selection is made. First review
of application material will occur on November 21, 2005.
SALARY $83,533 - $131,560 annualized. Appointment can be made above the
minimum depending upon qualifications.
EXPERIENCE Minimum of eight years of progressively responsible management
and administrative experience preferably in area of airport operations
and/or municipal government, including three years supervising professional
level staff. Candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in airport
management, business administration, public administration, civil
engineering, or a related field is required and a related master's degree is
preferred. Experience working in a complex urban environment and an
understanding of the operational and political characteristics of a large
scale municipal government is also desired. Other combinations of experience
and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
DUTIES The City of Phoenix Aviation Department (Phoenix Sky Harbor
International Airport) seeks a dynamic and results oriented professional to
fill the position of Assistant Aviation Director. There is one vacancy in
the position currently responsible for the Business and Properties,
Environmental, Community Noise Reduction Program, Communications and
Community Relations, Museum Program and Technology divisions/sections. A
Deputy Aviation Director heads each division. In this role, the Assistant
Aviation Director has significant discretion in managing the daily
operations of these divisions/sections working under the general direction
of and in close coordination with the Aviation Director. There are two
Assistant Aviation Directors and areas of responsibilities may be reassigned
per the discretion of the Aviation Director. Currently there is one vacancy
in the Aviation Department.
ALSO REQUIRED Some positions in this classification require the use of
personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically
capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess an appropriate valid
Arizona driver's license, possess personal insurance coverage, and have an
acceptable driving record. All positions in the Aviation Department require
individuals to pass a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background check
prior to hire.
RESIDENCE City of Phoenix residency is required within 24 months after the
date of hire and must be maintained.
