The
0933-Manager V-Assistant Deputy Director reports to the Deputy Airport Director
of Facilities Operations and Maintenance and is responsible for managing the
daily maintenance and operation of the Airport facilities, including the
following: all custodial services; facility maintenance (automobiles, buildings,
painting, electrical, plumbing, steamfitting, carpentry, sheetmetal, paving and
grounds, landscaping, lock shop, storeroom/warehouse, sign shop, scheduling and
control); mechanical maintenance (people mover systems, escalators and
elevators); plant operations (heating, cooling systems, HVAC units, steam and
power units); airfield (runways, taxiways and aprons); and landside maintenance
(roadways, parking lots, garages and courtyards). The essential functions of
this job include: directing the Maintenance Branch of Facilities Operations and
Maintenance; prioritizing, directing and reviewing work of staff who oversee
mechanical maintenance, plant operations and facility maintenance; assuring that
all operations are in compliance with federal, state and local regulations;
developing and monitoring short- and long-term goals and performance standards;
coordinating work with other Airport divisions regarding needs and impact to
operations, schedules and facilities; performing personnel activities
(requisitions, interviewing, hiring, training and disciplining); determining
staffing needs and projections; managing preventive and predictive maintenance
programs for facilities equipment and machinery; preparing and monitoring annual
budget; serving as Deputy Airport Director of Facilities Operations and
Maintenance when assigned; and performing other duties as assigned.
Note:
The normal annual salary range is $89,362 to $119,782. Appointments above the
maximum of the normal range $89,362 to $119,782 may be considered based on
documented and substantiated recruitment and retention issues or exceptional
skills. A special approval process is necessary for appointment above the normal
salary range.
In addition to competitive salaries, the City offers

Minimum Qualifications:
1) Ten (10)
years of management experience in either a) an airport facility; b) a facility
maintenance/operations in a public works, campus, or industrial setting; or c) a
large contracting company (California "A" or "B" license issued by the
California State Contractor's License Board); AND
2) Three (3) of the ten
(10) years of experience must be either a) within an organization (airport,
public works, campus, or industrial) that employs three or more different
crafts; b) within an organization (airport, public works, campus, or industrial)
that includes three or more engineering disciplines; or c) serving as the
project manager/foreman of a large contracting company; AND
3) Possession of
a valid Class C Driver’s License. A California license must be obtained prior to
appointment. Employee must continue to maintain a satisfactory driving
record.
Substitution: Possession of a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in
Construction Management, Engineering, Facilities Management, Public
Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university may
substitute for up to two (2) years of the experience in Minimum Qualification #1
but not for the experience in Minimum Qualification #2.
