AIRPORT / GOVERNMENT TECHNICAL SPECIALIST

The National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO), based in the
Silver Spring, Maryland area (minutes from downtown Washington, D.C.), is
seeking an Airport/Government Technical Specialist.  The responsibilities of
the position include analyzing FAA rulemaking and federal legislation and
reporting on their real and perceived effect on state and local government
aviation programs.  Conversely, this specialist also represents the state
and local views and perspectives to the FAA, other federal agencies,
Congressional Committees, and industry groups.  

This individual is also responsible for writing technical briefings and
newsletter articles for NASAO's members and assisting states with
interpreting and complying with federal rules and guidelines.  This position
is also disseminates Federal Register notices, acts as a resource on all
state government aviation data and develops the technical panels at two
annual conferences.  

Applicants must have a four-year degree in aviation or engineering and a
minimum of five years relevant experience.  The successful candidate will
have a strong familiarity with FAA regulations, the rulemaking process, the
Airport Improvement Program, and the FAA Reauthorization process.  

Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills are a must.  The ability
to prioritize, organize, and master multiple tasks is essential.  Aviation
experience a must, small office environment experience helpful.  Benefits
