RE: re[2]: CAA: Mutual Help List, re: animal kennels

I Believe McCarran was looking at something like this a couple of years ago.  Also, Honolulu has a great set-up with the Humane Society there for dogs in transit, but I don't know if they have an arrangement for people who are flying out.

I recall the issue of a kennel for airline passengers wishing to transport their dogs was allowable.  Unfortunately, where that was, and when, I do not recall.

My understanding is that a kennel on an airport can be approved by the FAA so long as the primary (if not sole) purpose of the kennel is to provide animal shelter/storage for airport customers (aircarrier passengers).  If there is no connection to the aeronautical use of the airport, then the land used by the kennel would need to have no potential for aeronautical use.

Non-aeronautical use?  Be careful re FAA grant assurances and other compliance requirements.  Private-owned kennel "business, or public owned "shelter/pound"?  Big difference.
