Mutual Help List, re: flying clubs

Carrie,

I would check with your Airport Liability Insurance contact, to find what is their recommended minimum coverage for a flying club.

We just updated our Min Standards, less than a year ago and require the same insurance as an Aircraft Rental or Flight Training Operator (see below):

The FAA has a history of dealing with "Flying Clubs" whom attempt to act as a commercial business. Be aware of this wolf in sheep disguise.

Bobbi, is right on with what you should have and where to check....

In fact, the AC provides an example of a "flying club"... I believe it is in AC No: 00-25, which is attached…

Best,
Travis McQueen - Manager

Subject: CAA: Mutual Help List, re: flying clubs

I would be interested to hear from anyone that has a private flying club on their airport.  Do you require them to carry a certain level of insurance, provide the airport a list of the members.  Would appreciate any information that you could provide.  Carrie Novick, Redmond Airport Manager
