Access gate system




We are in the process to upgrade the Airport gate card from the dummy system
that we have now to the HID proximity card reader.  It looks that there are
a hard wire system or an inter net protocol wireless one. We are using a
hard wire system at other City's Facilities, and the trend is to continue
using the same, but I'd like to know if the wireless is the way to go now. 
Does any one has the wireless system for Airport access gates who tell how
it is working, what are the pros and cons for each.   Thanks
