"Safety Information"

Since leaving active airport management in 1997 I have been doing
consulting work in the Annex 14 arena for a couple of countries, most
recently in Taiwan where I am helping the CAA create their Airport
(Aerodrome in ICAO speak) Certification processes. As part of the
certification process the CAA and eventually each airport must create a
Safety Management System (SMS). Having worked at four different US
airports, primarily in Operations I have a pretty good appreciation for
the development of SMSs -- I understand that the FAA is working to
develop guidance on SMS development for US Airports and ATC. Can any one
confirm that fact?
I am also wondering if there is any interest in a group of
"operationally" oriented airport operators working together to develop a
"best practices" in airport operations handbook (for the lack of a
better term). It seems that we like to trade war stories at the
association meetings and most of the lore is passed from person to
person but never seem to get reduced to writing. Might be a fun project.
