Title: Vehicles in Hangars

Who cares is your auditor....or at least.. in my case....I get hit each year during the county audit about hangars with vehicles and other stuff in it (yes..they actually go through the hangars even if I have already done so)....this year I am changing our hangar agreement language to accommodate this situation so that during my next audit I have something to point to that they can see and cannot question if my Board has approved it....had not considered the way Kern does it....not a bad idea also....

Mario,  in Kern County ( all 7 airports ) we require proof of auto insurance-- after which-- it is their hangar, to use as the customer see fit.  Cheers Ray Bishop

Here in SLC we have a similar policy. But, no one has stated the reason for this.  I consulted the Airport Fire Marshal, the Properties office, etc. I feel that since there is no good reason for this policy, it should be eliminated as a customer irritant. As long as the primary purpose of the hangar is retained, i.e. AIRCRAFT PARKING, then who really cares if a vehicle is inside? As long as the customer has the room to store an aircraft and a vehicle, why should we interfere?

Hello folks,

I've got a problem that I think is common to many airports.  I've got tenants that love to store vehicles in their T-hangars, in addition to their aircraft.  Our agreements state that they can only park their cars in there while they are flying, but I don't have any other language or a good reason to tell them why it is our policy.

Can anyone out there help me out with a better reason and some corresponding lease language why this is not permissible?
