New airport manager coming from California

SARANAC LAKE - The town of Harrietstown voted unanimously Wednesday to hire
Ross Dubarry, of Hayward, Calif., as the new Adirondack Regional Airport
manager.

Dubarry has accepted the job and plans to start in April. He was the
candidate recommended by the search committee. Town Councilman Barry DeFuria
said the town board met with Dubarry on Saturday but didn't do a formal
interview since the search committee had already done one by phone.

"I got some good vibes from him," DeFuria said.

One of the recommendations of the four-member search committee was to raise
the salary of the airport manager to compete for candidates on a national
level. The adopted 2008 Harrietstown budget allocates $48,573 for the
airport manager. The board passed a resolution amending the salary amount to
be between $48,573 and $58,623. DeFuria said Dubarry's salary will be in the
high end of that range.

"If you want somebody, you got to pay for them because I don't want to do
this in another two years," he said.

DeFuria, who also applied for the job, said Dubarry has management
experience at airports in California and Westchester County. Dubarry
received an offer of a higher salary from the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport
in Glens Falls, but he chose the town-owned airport in Lake Clear instead,
according to DeFuria.

New assistant airport manager Corey Hurwitch, who was hired last week at a
salary of $35,501, is expected to start in the middle of March.
