Livermore asks Pleasanton to reconsider housing near airport
The San Jose (CA) Mercury News
LIVERMORE - Concerned about future complaints over noise, the City Council
this week issued a letter to Pleasanton urging it to reject a proposed
senior housing project west of the Livermore airport.
The project would be located on the Alameda County-owned Staples Ranch
property outside the adopted airport protection area, where residential
development is prohibited.
But it would be closer to the airport than many existing Pleasanton houses
from which residents have complained about airport noise. Several pilots
Monday night objected to the proposed housing development.
"Residential building of any type near the airport is not a good idea," said
Ralph Cloud, chairman of Livermore's Airport Advisory Commission.
