Suspect Causes Scare At City Airport
The Detroit (MI) Free Press
A man was arrested after trying to break into two planes that were on
the runway at Detroit City Airport Wednesday.
Authorities said the suspect approached a guard at the airport and
claimed to be the owner of one of the planes. The man did not have
proper identification and the guard refused to allow him into the area
where planes are kept.
As the guard made a call to check out the suspect's story, the man
reportedly bolted past him, jumped a fence and ran onto a runway.
The suspect jogged up to a plane that was taxiing on the runway and
tried unsuccessfully to break into the cabin using a metal rod.
When he tried to break into a second plane, security officers caught up
with the man and subdued him until police arrived.
He was arrested and taken to the 9th Precinct for questioning.
