NBAA President Testifies Before House Aviation Subcommittee Regarding
Operational Restrictions
WASHINGTON, /PRNewswire/ -- National Business Aviation Association
(NBAA) President Jack Olcott today testified before the House Aviation
Subcommittee regarding remaining aircraft operating restrictions within
Class B airspace.
"It is clear that challenges remain that are deserving of our collective
attention as we continue to focus on the security and the future of
aviation, which is an enabling technology for meeting our nation's
economic and social objectives," said Olcott.
"Over the past three days, new operational procedures developed by the
FAA and our industry have restored VFR flight operations in 15 of the 30
'enhanced' Class B airspace locations," he continued. "However, within
the remaining enhanced Class B airspace areas, VFR flights remain
grounded. These restrictions continue to affect helicopter operations,
flight schools, fixed base operators (FBOs), aircraft maintenance
facilities and many other businesses and individuals who rely on
airports for their livelihood."
Olcott also testified on other operational restrictions, including Part
91 access to Newark International Airport in New Jersey, international
general aviation arrivals and departures, and unique aviation
activities, such as electronic news gathering, traffic reporting, aerial
advertising and banner towing.
NBAA represents the aviation interests of nearly 7,000 companies which
own or operate general aviation aircraft as an aid to the conduct of
their business, or are involved with business aviation. NBAA Member
Companies earn annual revenues approaching $5 trillion -- a number that
is about half the gross domestic product -- and employ more than 19
million people worldwide. The NBAA Annual Meeting & Convention is the
world's largest display of civil aviation products and services.
