Airport needs more parking, more space for private hangars
MSNBC
BILLINGS - Business is booming at the Billings airport, and they’re
running out of parking for cars. The airport set a 20-year record for
boardings last year, and is doing even better this year. They’re also ahead
of the pace for passengers arriving in Billings. Assistant aviation director
Tom Binford says the parking lots are full, and they plan to expand, west of
the present long-term parking lot. The design work should be completed by
next month, and submitted to the City Council for approval. They hope to
solicit bids early this summer, and begin construction by August. The
project will be financed by airport revenues.
Meanwhile, there’s more expansion. Binford says four or five executive
hangars have been built in the last year, and the airport is running out of
available lots. They are now grading more land, putting in a new road, and
extending utilities to provide more hangar space.
