New runway at Edgeley Municipal won’t be finished until July
GA News
EDGELEY, North Dakota — A new Runway 8/26 at Edgeley Municipal Airport
(51D), scheduled to open last October, remains uncompleted. Following its
closure last August, it was torn up to make room for a new runway, taxiway
and apron. The revised schedule calls for it to open in July at a cost of
$1.19 million.
According to airport officials, heavy rains delayed construction late into
the fall, preventing the project’s completion before winter set in.
The airport’s FBO and aerial agricultural sprayer moved off the airport in
August. Officials said the few private aircraft still based at the airport
“aren’t flying.”
Edgeley, about 100 miles west of Fargo, is home to kit manufacturer Fisher
Flying Products. The company, which has its own private runway, has not been
affected by Runway 8/26’s delayed opening.
