30,000 flock to New Orleans for NBAA Convention

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana ó The 53rd National Business Aviation Association
Convention didnít quite break the 1998 attendance record, but more than
29,000 delegates and nearly 1,000 exhibitors filled the 10-block-long,
1.1-million-square-foot exhibit space. Thatís twice as large as the last
time the convention was held in the Big Easy six years ago. And as of the
close of business Oct. 12, new aircraft orders totaled more than $2.2
billion.

The most spectacular entrance to the convention was made by Raytheon, which
shipped its display aircraft from Lakefront Airport down the Mississippi
River, where the barge carrying the airplanes docked at the Ernest Morial
Convention Center for unloading.
