A passenger trying to board a flight at Palm Beach
International Airport on Feb. 28 was arrested after trying to carry four
rounds of ammunition, a Taser, M-80 fireworks and a four-inch martial
arts knife through airport security, a Transportation Security
Administration spokeswoman confirmed this evening.
TSA officers
discovered the prohibited items in the passenger's carry-on bag,
spokeswoman Sari Koshetz said. The passenger was trying to board a Delta
flight that morning to New York's LaGuardia Airport, she said.
It
was not clear why the passenger - whose identity was not immediately
available - was trying to board the flight with the items.
"Unfortunately,
passengers still bring thousands of prohibited items to our checkpoints
at PBI every year," Koshetz said. "But our officers are diligent and
experienced at intercepting them.
"You would not want the person sitting next to you on the plane to be in possession of these items."
