Description: Walsh

                                 Susan Walsh

Greater Rochester International Airport Director Susan Walsh resigned today effective immediately, following her arrest for drunken driving nearly two weeks ago.

Walsh, 52, stepped down exactly one year to the day that her predecessor, David Damelio, resigned in scandal amid revelations that he had spent excessively on tobacco and alcohol in the name of business development for the airport.

The administration of Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks announced her resignation in a news release issued at 3:24 p.m. The release said that Brooks would be available for interviews with reporters later in the day.

Walsh was arrested Dec. 22, after she allegedly ran a motorist off the road and rear-ended another in East Rochester while driving a county-issued 2011 Ford Escape.

According to the police report, Walsh failed three roadside sobriety tests and asked the officer to “help” her with her predicament.

She faces a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated and is scheduled to appear in East Rochester Town Court on Feb. 6.
