EAA to Celebrate Poberezny's 90th Birthday
On Sunday, September 11, EAA will honor its own living legend in a day-long celebration of Founder Paul H. Poberezny's 90th birthday! EAA members are invited to Oshkosh to help celebrate. ConocoPhillips Plaza will be open for aircraft wishing to fly in. Planned activities include an AirVenture Museum open house throughout the day, Founders' Wing tours and much more. Poberezny along with his wife Audrey, will greet visitors in the Founders' Wing Library beginning at 1 p.m. For more information, call 800-236-1025.

Oklahoma
Fallin, Bird, speak at Shawnee airport terminal grand opening 
Governor Mary Fallin was among about 75 attendees last week at the grand opening for the new terminal at Shawnee Regional Airport. Vic Bird, the director of the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission, also spoke at the event. He said the new terminal would bring in business to Shawnee and the state.

North Dakota
First passengers depart from Grand Forks' new Dorgan Terminal 
The rising sun reflected off the large east-facing windows of the new Byron L. Dorgan Terminal at Grand Forks International Airport on an early morning last week, signaling the dawn of a new day at the airport.

Texas
Airport to receive $700,000 TxDOT grant
The Texas Transportation Commission, TxDOT’s governing body, approved $705,700 in funding at its regular August meeting for the Palestine Municipal Airport for planned improvements including pavement repairs and drainage improvements.

Fly Iowa 2011 to land in Newton for a day of Wings, Wheels, and Thrills 
PlanesFly Iowa 2011 will land at the Newton Municipal Airport on Saturday, September 17. The statewide aviation fair and air show is free and is designed to expose the public to the benefits and excitement of aviation in Iowa.

Kenville Appointed to North Dakota Aeronautics Commission 
Kim Kenville, Ph.D., C.M, a professor and graduate program director for the University of North Dakota’s John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences has been appointed to the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission effective September 1st through June 30th, 2016.

Arizona
Cutter Aviation at Phoenix Sky Harbor Location Earns TSA Approval for DCA Flights 
Cutter Aviation at Phoenix Sky Harbor Int’l Airport (PHX) has been granted approval as an FBO gateway for approved general and corporate aviation flights to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as part of the DASSP (DCA Access Standard Security Program) initiative to restore General Aviation access to the airport.

Three airports in region get grants from state
Pittsburgh International Airport, Allegheny County Airport and Butler County Airport are the recipients of grants totaling $828,000.

Iowa
Des Moines Airport Authority Goals Held Up by FAA Questions
Questions raised by federal regulators have slowed down plans to transfer city-owned aviation facilities to the newly created Des Moines Airport Authority. Don Smithey, aviation director at the Des Moines airport, said city and airport officials are working to resolve all of the questions.

Corbett Announces State Investment to Improve Safety, Facilities at 18 Airports
Gov. Tom Corbett announced a $4 million state investment last week that will upgrade facilities and improve safety at 18 Pennsylvania airports.
