Anchorage airport director resigns
The Associated Press
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - The longtime director of the Anchorage Ted Stevens
International Airport has resigned.
Mort Plumb submitted a letter of resignation Friday to the state Department
of Transportation and Gov. Sarah Palin.
Anchorage television station KTUU reported Plumb did not give a reason in
the one-sentence letter. He's been the airport director for 13 years.
He came under fire last month for the airport's plan to add a fourth runway,
one which would have eliminated or relocated part of the coastal trail
closer to the runways. After complaints from both airlines and the public,
the plan was put on hold.
The resignation is effective July 1.
