Denver Airport Expects Busy, But Snow-Free Friday
Arturo Santiago reporting
KCNC-TV Ch 4 (CBS), Denver (CO)
DENVER (CBS4) — Five of the six runways were clear Thursday night and all
should be clear by the weekend.
One-hundred sixty-six thousand passengers are expected to pass through DIA
Friday.
"Despite the weather, it's all really working out for us, you know, part of
that is an improvement in our snow plan over last year and the snow is not
falling nearly as heavily as it did last year and we've been able to stay
ahead of it," said Jeff Green, an airport spokesman.
The second winter storm in two days that moved across the state yesterday
dumped between two and six inches of snow across the Front Range, making
highway travel difficult and forcing the cancellation of some flights at
Denver International Airport.
United Airlines, the largest carrier at Denver International Airport,
canceled 145 flights into and out of Denver Thursday, about 17 percent of
the scheduled flights there. Frontier Airlines also canceled a hand full of
flights.
