Skycap 'Goodie' Goode retires after 46 years at Dayton airport
The Associated Press
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Elvin Goode, widely known as "Goodie," spent 46 years as
a baggage handler at Dayton International Airport.
He was a skycap by trade, but he also was an unofficial ambassador for the
city of Dayton.
Goode is 70 and retired on Friday.
He knew that people arriving in Dayton for the first time might form their
impression of the city from him. That's why he always lived by the advice
his grandfather gave him.
"Goodie" always went to work in a starched shirt, a clean uniform, a
dazzling shoe shine and with a big smile. He says that was good for tips,
too.
