Sky Harbor expected to stay crowded through midweek
By Eugene Scott

With many people still traveling because of Thanksgiving, things likely
won't get back to normal at Sky Harbor International Airport until midweek.

"We have about 120,000 expected through (Sunday) versus the normal Sunday of
75 to 100,000," said Deborah Ostreicher, the airport's deputy aviation
director. "Monday and Tuesday would be around 75,000 normally, but we expect
about 100,000 each day."

Ostreicher said the airport was seeing heavy traffic flow on both the
arrival and departure sides, but didn't experience any major problems.

"Everything's gone really smoothly, in part due to the cooperative weather,
as well as all of the preparedness that we had at Sky Harbor prior to the
holiday," she said.

Travelers had a role in helping the airport avoid any significant problems
Sunday, Ostreicher said.

"What we mostly heard from passengers is that everything had gone really
smoothly and that was in large tribute to the passengers, because they got
there early," she said.

And if you are heading to the airport to pick up a traveler, she suggested
using the cellphone waiting lots west of the Terminal 2 parking structure
and east of Terminal 4.

Drivers can wait in the lots for free.
