Wednesday, October 24, 2007 DENVER - About $7 million from
state aviation fuel taxes will be used to help pay for The
airlines agreed to allow the city to divert the revenue instead of being
assessed higher fees, DIA spokesman Chuck Cannon said Tuesday. That will
allow the airlines to cut costs and still pay the full amount owed in
aviation fuel taxes. Airports collect fuel taxes
from airlines on behalf of the state, with about 65 percent of the total
returned to the facilities. DIA
plans to spend about $31 million under the snow management plan, which
includes some new equipment. Last December, the airport was closed for
nearly two days after it was hit by back-to-back blizzards.
