Long Lines Greet Travelers at Buffalo Niagara Airport
WIVB-TV CH 4 (ABC), Buffalo (NY)

Cheektowaga, NY, - It's a sight travelers don't want to see at the Buffalo
Niagara Airport. Long lines have been greeting travelers for some time now.
News 4's Jericka Duncan reports airport officials are looking at ways to cut
the long waits.

"Sometimes it's annoying because you're just waiting and waiting and
waiting."

It's becoming more and more typical; passengers standing in long lines at
the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

"There's lines at the Peace Bridge, lines all over. This is a town of
lines."

Since 2004, the growth at the airport exceeded the national average. In
2006, the airport served more than five million people.

Director of Public Affairs Douglas Hartmayer says airport officials plan to
add more security checkpoints to handle the increasing traffic.

The busiest times are 5:00 to 7:30, 9:30 to 11:30 in the morning, and 3:30
to 5:30 at night.

Coming up on News 4 at 5, we'll explain why the strong Canadian dollar is
also contributing to more traffic.
