Police chief charged with misdemeanor for issuing identification
The Associated Press

ST. LOUIS, MO -- A suburban St. Louis police chief faces a misdemeanor
charge for giving police credentials to an unqualified person.

St. Louis County Prosecutor Robert McCulloch issued a summons for Kinloch
Police Chief Donald Hardy to appear in court August 1st on the charge.

McCulloch says in a statement that Hardy granted a police commission and
identification to Kinloch resident James Chester, even though the chief knew
Chester did not have the necessary state-issued peace officer license.

Chester was arrested at Lambert Airport for carrying a firearm through
airport security. He identified himself as a Kinloch police officer at the
time.
