No Intel Warning On London Car Bomb
United Press International

Investigators Friday said there was no intelligence in advance suggesting
another major terrorist attack was likely in London.

The threat level before a car bomb was discovered outside a nightclub was
"severe," the second highest level, The Times of London reported.

It has been at "severe" since August, except for a brief period when it was
raised to "critical" when a group of suspects were charged with a plan to
use soft-drink containers to bring explosives on planes at Heathrow
International Airport.

Police were going through footage from security cameras trying to identify
the man who drove the Mercedes to Piccadilly and left it outside Tiger Tiger
Nightclub.

Closed-circuit TV footage of the four suicide bombers who killed 52 people
on a bus and three subway trains on July 7, 2005, was discovered after the
fact, helping investigators identify them and trace their routes.

Cameras set up to enforce London's new congestion pricing scheme for
vehicles may also be helpful.
