Rocking chairs, entertainment part of Bradley airport plan
The Associated Press
Windsor Locks - Bradley International Airport officials say they want to
create a kinder, gentler traveling experience.
The airport's board hopes to use surplus money to add flat-screen TV's,
rocking chairs and entertainers in the passenger terminals at the state's
largest airport.
State transportation officials say plush couches, rocking chairs, and quiet
areas decorated with plants are becoming more common at airports nationwide.
It's an attempt to help counter the frustration that many travelers
experience going through security lines, checking in and coping with delays.
At Bradley, 20 rocking chairs will soon be placed in a corridor between the
two passenger terminals -- and entertainers such as musicians, clowns and
maybe even jugglers will start performing once a week by early June.
Also coming soon: a permanent welcome-home banner for troops returning from
war.
