Security to be stepped up at Lambert Airport
KMOV-TV Ch 4 (CBS), St. Louis (MO)

The level of aviation security is being stepped up at Lambert International Airport, and details of the program were announced Monday.

Lambert Airport and a handful of other airports in the nation have already been a part of a security expansion program that has been in effect since 2003, but St. Louis will now have additional bomb appraising officers to help airport screeners.

Monday, two bomb-appraising officers that are trained either in the department of defense or the FBI helped in recognizing bombs and other paraphernalia in everyday items.

Over the next 18-months, 300 bomber appraisals will be added to airports. This includes two more at Lambert.

TSA says passengers should not see a difference in their airport experience.

Bomber appraisals have been very effective in minimizing airport security wait-time.
