Chattanooga Airport Getting Busier
The Chattanoogan (TN)

Emplanements are up sharply at the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport for the
first two months of the year, airport officials said.

The increase in numbers is partly due to the success of new Allegiant
flights to Florida, Christina Siebold, marketing director, said.

But she said Continental, US Airways and American Eagle are also sporting
higher numbers.

"It is starting off as a very strong year. We are pretty excited," Ms.
Siebold said.

She said, "We think we are recapturing some of those who have been driving
to other airports." She said the airlines have been cooperating in making
Chattanooga fares more competitive.

In February, Allegiant had 3,336 local customers.

Comair was at 2,409 - compared to 1,539 for February last year.

American Eagle rose from 2,096 to 2,463.

Continental was up from 1,172 to 1,506.

The airport in February had 21,517 people flying from Chattanooga. That is
up more than 21 percent over last February's 17,749.
