BOISE, Idaho - The Boise Police Department would merge with the Boise
Airport Police this fall under a proposal from Boise Police Chief
Michael Masterson.
Masterson made the recommendation to Mayor Dave Bieter and the city
council today after reviewing a four-month study by the police
department. He says the merger would improve public safety at the airport
and save taxpayer money.Masterson also says a merger would improve
communication between agencies if a major emergency ever occurs at the
airport.
Under a merger, airport policing would be considered a specialty in the
police department, much like school resource officers and neighborhood
contact officers.
