Airport expansion would swallow homes, businesses
The Associated Press
WARWICK, R.I. --An expansion of TF Green Airport in Warwick would require
the demolition of at least 204 homes and 53 businesses.
That's according to a draft report released today by the Federal Aviation
Administration. The agency is examining a proposal to expand the airport's
runways.
Although an expansion could cut the city's tax base by two (m) million
dollars, it would allow the airport to generate an estimated 138 million
dollars in business revenues within 13 years.
Airport authorities want a longer runway to accomodate direct flights from
the West Coast.
