Orlando International Airport posted a passenger increase of nearly 3
percent during the fiscal year ended that ended Sept. 30, the Greater
Orlando Aviation Authority reported Tuesday.

For the month of September, however, traffic was down 0.7 percent from
September 2005 figures.

A total of 34.72 million passengers used the airport during fiscal 2006, up
2.92 percent from fiscal 2005.

Domestic passenger counts were up 3.26 percent in fiscal 2006, but
international passenger totals were down 2.09 percent.

"Nationwide, the 2005-2006 fiscal year was a challenging one for airports
and the entire airline industry in general," said Chris Schmidt, deputy
executive director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
