36 Istanbul Airport Personnel Checked for Radiation

Some HAVAS ground crew personnel working at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport are
being tested for radioactivity as a precaution.

As part of an investigation into the death of former Russian spy Alexander
Litvinenko due to Polonium- 210 poisoning in England, two planes determined
to have flown 20 times the London-Istanbul-London route are being checked
out. 

22 service personnel having worked on the planes in question were taken to
the Kucukcekmece Nuclear Research and Education Centre on Tuesday for tests.


HAVAS, the Turkish ground handling company, has not made any statements to
the press.
