Sioux Falls Airport's 'Baggie Blitz'
KELO-TV Ch 11 (CBS), Sioux Falls (SD)

Before hunters arriving in South Dakota can bag a pheasant, they'll have to
"baggie" some of their possessions.

It's been nearly a month since the government lifted its ban of carry-on
liquids and gels at airports. Now you're allowed to bring them on board, but
only in three ounce bottles, or smaller, and they have to be kept in clear
plastic zip-lock baggies. But the security change has faded in the memories
of many people flying out of Sioux Falls. And they aren't bothering to put
their stuff in plastic.

People waiting in the long screening lines at the Sioux Falls Airport can
pass the time with some light reading. These cards spell out the security
rules for carry-ons. Small liquids, gels and aerosols must be kept in
quart-sized sealable plastic bags. Mark Moberly of the Transportation
Security Administration said, "It shouldn't be that confusing, the key thing
to remember is three-ounces or less, in a zip-lock baggie."

But too many people are either forgetting or foregoing the requirement...
prompting time-consuming luggage checks by security screeners. "And when
it's this busy, you get that happening on a regular basis and it really
makes the line go long."

People who forget to bring their own baggies to the airport can buy them one
at the gift shop for fifty-cents apiece. By late morning, the gift shop was
down to just a half-dozen baggies. But a backup supply of baggies was on the
way.

Moberly expects the biggest screening delays will start Monday, as all the
out-of-state hunters begin heading home.

A videotape is also playing in the terminal reminding air travelers about
the carry-on requirements.
