Oklahoma airport officials ponder impact of new law
The Associated Press

TULSA, Okla. Airport officials say it's too soon to tell how Oklahoma will
be affected by a new law that will by 2014 end a requirement that flights
leaving Love Field in Texas must land in Texas or four contiguous states,
including Oklahoma.

President Bush signed a law today that repeals the 1979 Wright Amendment.

The amendment was originally passed to encourage the growth of the regional
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

Alexis Higgins, a spokeswoman for Tulsa International Airport, said
passengers will see an immediate benefit from the law.

Before the repeal, a traveler had to buy one ticket from Love Field to
either Tulsa or Oklahoma City, then purchase another for the last leg of the
flight. Now, passengers can "through-ticket," or buy a single ticket for
their entire trip.
