Airport Braces For One Million Travelers
The Associated Press
ATLANTA -- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport expects more
than one million passengers to travel through the world's busiest airport
over the next six days as the unofficial summer travel period begins with
the Memorial Day holiday.
General manager Ben DeCosta says some passengers will get an early start and
head out today.
Passenger projections for the six-day period through Tuesday show that more
than 1.2 million people will travel through the airport.
The heaviest travel days are expected to be today and tomorrow, when more
than 250,000 passengers per day are expected to use the airport.
The airport's average daily passenger volume is about 237,000.
Memorial Day on Monday also is expected to be busy, with more than 225,000
travelers expected in the airport.
Airport officials advise travelers to allow ample time for check-in and
baggage checks.
