Flights Resume at John Wayne Airport
By Daryl Strickland
The Los Angeles (CA) Times
John Wayne Airport resumed flights this morning after a power outage delayed
screening passengers for about 45 minutes until electricity was restored.
Power was lost at the Santa Ana airport shortly before 6 a.m., said Rachel
Gibson, an airport spokeswoman. By 6:45 a.m., power was restored but the
metal detectors needed another 20 to 30 minutes to warm-up once power was
lost, she said.
The first flight left the airport behind schedule at 7:26 a.m., Gibson said,
even though departures and arrivals before 7 a.m. at the Orange County
facility are restricted.
"Right now, Gibson said, "we're back up to normal operations." Still, she
urged that passengers check with their airline for possible flight delays.
