STOCKTON - Stockton Metropolitan Airport officials see better days about to
land at the Central Valley facility.

Allegiant Air starts Stockton to Las Vegas service June 16 and AeroMexico is
expected to begin international service in November, says Barry Rondinella,
airport director.

June 16 is also the last day for United Parcel Service to use the Stockton
airport for airfreight, but Mr. Rondinella says a much bigger airfreight
service could soon land at the airport.

Also on tap is development of some 500 acres of land into a high-end office
campus, unlike anything in the Stockton area but similar to business and
industrial campuses in Silicon Valley, he says.

But a problem common to urban airports around California may soon creep up
on the Stockton airport - encroaching housing developments underneath
take-off and landing patterns with the attendant noise of big jets.

Mr. Rondinella goes into detail of these and other aspects of the airport in
this CVBT audio report.

Passengers will soon stream through these doors once again when Allegiant
Air brings scheduled airline service back to Stockton.

Airport Director Barry Rondinella says AeroMexico should be serving Stockton
by November.
