The Greensboro (NC) News-Record

GREENSBORO - An incident at a security checkpoint at Piedmont Triad
International Airport Friday caused hundreds to evacuate the south concourse
for an hour, airport officials said.

The evacuation occurred after several people were detained while going
through a security checkpoint about 2 p.m., said Ted Johnson, the airport's
executive director. He declined to say what sparked their detainment, saying
the federal Transportation Security Administration was handling the security
issue. A call to the TSA was not immediately returned Friday afternoon.

Crews searched the south concourse before people were allowed back into the
area about 3 p.m., Johnson said. The incident caused some flight delays, he
said.
