Philadelphia International Airport Security Scare
CBS 3, Philadelphia (PA)

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a security scare at Philadelphia
International Airport.

Airport spokesperson Mark Pesce says a TSA worker questioned a traveler
attempting to make his way through a security checkpoint in Terminal A West
around 8:30 a.m. Friday.

During a routine pat-down, a TSA worker noticed the male was wearing a leg
brace with a rubber band around it.

When the TSA employee asked what the rubber band was for the male replied he
had something bad and ran away from the checkpoint toward the parking
garage.

The man fled onto Airport Road where he was arrested.

Pesce says while the man was eluding security he discarded an item and
changed some clothing.

Officers canvassed the area in search of the discarded items and discovered
the man had been carrying drugs.

Charges are pending following an investigation and Pesce says neither foot
nor air traffic was affected because the man never made it past security.

There were no injuries.
