Course Material is based upon three Defense Department Publications.  UNIFIED FACILITIES CRITERIA (UFC) 3-535-01 "Design Standards for Visual Air Navigational Facilities",  3-535-02  "Design Drawings for Visual Air Navigational Facilities and DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE HANDBOOK MIL-HDBK-1023/4 "Maintenance of Visual Air Navigation Facilities. "  Courses are tailored for each branch of the military in attendance.

Military Airfield and Approach Lighting is a concentrated four and one half day short course consisting of hands on classroom and field** training. Course content emphasizes the inter–relationships of maintenance, design and installation.  How good maintenance and records should affect the best design and how good maintenance is impossible without proper design and installation.  It is a must for those who design, inspect, install, maintain and manage Military Airfield and Approach Lighting Systems.  The Course is Internationally Recognized for it’s content.

Airfield and Approach Lighting is presented from a “Pilot’s Point Of View”, taught by a pilot who specializes in Photometrics – what a pilot actually sees,  Military and FAA requirements, and new technology to assure initial and ongoing compliance with Military and FAA photometric requirements. The course includes homework every night, 5 daily exercises and a final exam.  Students who pass exercises and exams with a score of 70% or better will earn a certificate of completion.

Training is by Transportation Guidance Systems and will be at (to be announced).  Cost for the course is $1250.00 per student which includes all course materials and manual.  The course should pay for it’s self by eliminating costly mistakes in design, construction and maintenance and should be considered mandatory before any new construction

Enroll early because this class is limited to a maximum of 20 persons.  Small classes provide individual attention and facilitate interaction adding to your knowledge.  If you have a specific problem or subject you would like addressed in the course as a class or individually, advise us well in advance so that we will have time to try to accommodate that subject.
