Opinion by Richard Ducote: Airport honors Burg in a nice way
The Arizona Daily Star

Tucson, Arizona - The Tucson Airport Authority has found a fitting way to
honor its late chief executive.

The TAA board this week voted to create an endowment to fund a scholarship
in the name of Walter A. Burg through the University of Arizona Foundation.

The board also contributed $10,000 to get the fund off the ground.

Burg joined the Tucson Airport Authority in 1966 as a fireman while
attending the UA. After graduation, he joined the airport planning
department. He became airport general manager in 1979 and retired as CEO in
2002.

He died suddenly Nov. 8 while traveling to Mexico. He was 62.

Those among his hundreds of friends and associates who wish to contribute to
the scholarship endowment should contact Ken Bacher, director of the
scholarship development office at the UA Foundation, at 621-1029 or e-mail
kbacher@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
