Former manager of Central Nebraska Regional Airport gets fine, probation
The Associated Press
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) -- Former Central Nebraska Regional Airport manager
Bill Stovall has been sentenced to one year probation and ordered to pay a
$500 fine following his conviction of assaulting his estranged wife.
Stovall, 57, was sentenced Friday for his conviction of misdemeanor
third-degree domestic assault in Hall County Court.
A jury in September convicted him of that charge but acquitted him of
misdemeanor third-degree assault for the March 7 incident at his home. He
had faced up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Stovall apologized for his actions in court.
"It's destroyed my life and I want to put it behind me and move on," he
said.
The terms of the probation prohibit Stovall from having any contact with his
estranged wife, Kay.
According to court testimony, Stovall shoved his wife and knocked her down
after finding her packing her belongings. She had filed for divorce that
morning without telling Stovall and testified she thought he would be out of
town that day.
Stovall resigned as airport manager earlier this year.
