New Pittsburgh Airport Security Machine A Breeze
KDKA-TV Ch 2 (CBS), Pittsburgh (PA)

Pittsburgh - A new airport security measure will be a breeze for passengers.

Today, the Transportation Security Administration announced trace portal
technology, a device at the Pittsburgh Airport that analyzes air from
passengers.

Flyers will step into the machine, and feel a few puffs of air. The machine
then checks the air for any particles of explosives.

Officials say the new machines could result in shorter lines.

"It's a win-win situation," said Joseph Terrell, Federal Security Director.

"It provides an incredible security benefit, but there's also the customer
service benefit which is a byproduct of the technology."

Not every passenger will have to go through the machine. Like pat downs,
people will be chosen at random.

So far, the Pittsburgh airport only has one of these machines.

A second machine will arrive after the airport opens a new security check
point in the old computer terminal, sometime around the holiday travel
season.
