Plane turns around for quick return to airport after hitting flock of birds
The Associated Press
WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (AP) - A Northwest Airlines plane bound for
Indianapolis was forced to turn around after hitting a flock of birds.
The plane circled the airport to burn off fuel before returning to Bradley
International Airport, said John Wallace, a spokesman for the airport.
The plane remained grounded Sunday afternoon as mechanics checked the
engines, Wallace said. Passengers were being routed on other Northwest
flights for Indianapolis, he said.
Flight 4768, which carried 42 passengers and crew, departed at 12:27 p.m.
and returned to Bradley at 1:35 p.m.
