It's business as usual at Pittsburgh airport

FINDLAY TWP. - Pittsburgh operations at Delta and Northwest airlines
appeared normal Thursday, with the two airlines fresh from filing
bankruptcy.
"It's something we're going to keep our eye on," said Jeff Martinelli,
airport spokesman. "We want to see every airline operating out here
succeed."
Both airlines intend to honor their Pittsburgh leases, said Kent George,
executive director of the airport.
Delta, for years, was second only to US Airways in the number of passengers
carried until July, when newcomer Southwest Airlines barreled into the No. 2
spot.
Statistics on local operations of the two carriers:
DELTA
Destinations: Atlanta, Cincinnati and John F. Kennedy International in New
York City.
Flights: 121 a week; 17 daily.
Passengers: 65,528 in August.
Three gates: D76, 78 and 80.
Employees: Unavailable for Pittsburgh; more than 65,300 total as of June 30.
NORTHWEST
Destinations: Detroit, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Memphis.
Flights: 94 a week, after dropping Milwaukee in August.
Passengers: 42,668 in August.
Two gates: C81 and D83.
Employees: 46 baggage handlers and customer service representatives at
Pittsburgh; more than 38,340 total as of June 30.
