Terminal briefly evacuated at Los Angeles airport amid luggage scare
China - Xinhuanet
LOS ANGELES, (Xinhuanet) -- A terminal at Los Angeles International Airport
was briefly shut down Sunday night when some luggage looked suspicious while
going through a screening machine,a local TV station reported.
The airport's Terminal 5 was evacuated but reopened soon to passengers after
the object was deemed safe, and no flights were delayed, according to Fox 11
channel.
The scare at the airport came three days after the terrorist bombings in
London, and a day after evacuations at a Hollywood subway station and a bus
depot, where suspicious packages were found Saturday.
Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. John Baylis said local authorities are
keeping high alert and have received some false alarms of terrorist attacks
in the second biggest city in the United States, after the London blasts.
