After years of study, proposed airport to get another study
The Associated Press
BATON ROUGE, La. - A proposed cargo airport between Baton Rouge and New
Orleans is getting another feasibility study _ despite the fact the project
has been studied numerous times over the past 13 years.
The difference this time, though, is that the next study may either push the
airport to construction _ or scuttle the idea entirely.
State economic development officials will be supervising the study. The
Louisiana Airport Authority has long touted the airport as a economic plus
for the state. But other studies have said it's not worth building.
The study will be presented next year to the Legislature. The proposed price
tag of the airport runs into billions of dollars, though current plans call
for a private investor to put up much of the money.
